In
and close to Llansteffan
The centre attraction at Innisfree is the outdoor heated swimming pool.
Here you can relax, take a swim, make friends or while away the day soaking
up the sun. The pool is heated from early June to beginning of September
and is situated at the centre of the complex so that all the the holiday
lets overlook it.
Most
people who come to Llansteffan enjoy taking some gentle walks on the beach
and around the headland to Scott's Bay or a slightly more energetic walk
up to the ruined Castle.
Children's
Play Area
There is a large play area just 50 yards to the rear of
the complex, that includes a football pitch, cricket ground and indoor
gym. A children's play area consists of a slide, swings and roundabout.
There are also swings, climbing frame and a slide at the front of Innisfree
on the beach side.
Golf
For
those who enjoy a round of golf, Llangain village, which is just three
miles away, has good nine-hole course. There is also a driving range just
6 miles away and the town of Carmarthen (7 miles away) has an excellent
course.
Eating
Out
There is the Castle Inn pub in the village serving food at reasonable
prices and children are welcome. For those who enjoy sea-dishes, the village
restaurant ‘Hen Dafarn’ specialises in high quality fresh food, much of
which is caught locally that day.
Situated less than 100 yards away from the cottages are two food outlets
and a beach shop with café which are open during the summer. For those
seeking a bit of nightlife, Carmarthen (7 miles) is home to some 50 public
houses and 4 night-clubs.
Shops
Llansteffan has a village shop a short walk from Innisfree.Five miles
away is a mini-market Spar at Johnstown village, but for all serious shopping
we recommend Carmarthen (7 miles), - the oldest town in Wales, where all
the large chain stores and local Welsh shops can be found.

The area offers plenty of opportunities to experience the ‘great outdoors’,
and in addition to bathing and walking mentioned earlier, sailing enthusiasts
will be tempted by the facilities at Pilglas, mid-way between Llangain
and Llansteffan, at the Towy Boat Club. A local coast guard station is
located at Llansteffan beach.
Other
pastimes include sea angling, providing attractive catches of bass, flatfish
and mullet; and bird watching - especially at ‘Werle Point’ and the area
known as Laugharne Ferry.

The
3 Bedroom Innisfree House has a multi-gym and Just six miles from Llansteffan
is the new Leisure Centre at Johnstown, which provides supervised indoor
sauna and swimming and where enthusiasts can enjoy various sports such
as badminton, tennis and squash, a gym and fitness classes, tables tennis.
For children under eight years 'Cheeky Monkey’s Adventure play land' is
a safe themed indoor adventure area packed full of exciting activities
including bish bags, hanging snakes, vertical rollers, tumble tower, log
ramp, wobbly floor, and spiral slide etc.

Dylan Thomas’ Boathouse Museum, Laugharne: The former
home of the Poet Dylan Thomas has been converted into an interesting Museum
of his life and work including audio-visual presentations, original furnishings
and memorabilia, a themed bookshop, tea room and viewing platform.
For
chocolate lovers a visit to the Chocolate farm near Llanboidy
is a treat.

The
National Botanic Garden of Wales: Situated just outside Carmarthen,
this £43 million scheme is one of the most ambitious environmental projects
ever attempted in the UK, and the first new major botanic garden for over
a century. The centre piece of the 568 acres is the largest single span
Glass House in the world.
Gwili
Railway: Trains run from the village of Bronwydd just outside
Carmarthen and provides passengers with a beautiful three mile round trip.
The
Teifi and Towy Valleys: Fine stretches of natural inland river
scenery with excellent fishing. Places of particular mention include Cenarth
Falls and the Museum of the Woollen Industry, Drefach, Velindre - both
in the Teifi Valley.
Aberglasney
Gardens: Situated near Llandeilo, and were abandoned for 50
years, these 16th and 18th century walled gardens have been restored to
reveal asecluded cloister garden, miniature woodlands, pool and stream
gardens, and a yew tunnel.
Dinefwr
Park: The ancient ruin of Dinefwr Castle provides panoramic views
of the Tywi valley. The castle, gardens, woods and deer park have been
integrated into a vast and beautiful landscape. There is an interpretive
exhibition, guided walks, trailer rides, and a tearoom with views over
the parkland.
Tenby
offers boat rides to Caldey Island and its Monastery.
