The centre attraction at Innisfree is the heated swimming pool. Here you can relax, take a swim, make friends or while away the day soaking up the sun. The swimming pool at Innisfree is situated at the centre of the complex so that all the cottages overlook it. It is heated each year from late May to early September.
Also on-site is a coin operated laundrette for your convenience. Tennis Courts Situated just 30 yards to the rear of Innisfree are two well kept tennis courts for all to enjoy. Each hour costs only £1 per person, 50p for those who become members. Rackets and balls are available to borrow from us, free of charge.
The sandy beach Golf For those who enjoy a round of golf, Llangain village, which is just three miles away, has good nine-hole course. There is also a driving range just 6 miles away and the town of Carmarthen (8 miles away) has an excellent course. Children’s Play Area There is a large play area just 50 yards to the rear of the complex, that includes a football pitch, cricket ground and indoor gym. A children’s play area consists of a slide, swings and roundabout. There are also swings, climbing frame and a slide at the front of Innisfree on the beach side.
Early evening view over Innisfree and Towy estuary Eating Out There are two pubs in the village both serving pub food at reasonable prices and children are very welcome. For those who enjoy sea-dishes, the village restaurant ‘Hen Dafarn’ specialises in high quality fresh food, much of which is caught locally that day. For a well prepared chef’s meal we recommend the 'Mansion House Hotel' where John and Meryl have an excellent menu at the tavern. Again children are very welcomed. For good pub food we recommend the 'Pantydderwen' where you can also have a round of golf and a great welcome is given by Dave Bowen, the barman. Situated less than 100 yards away are two food outlets and a beach shop with café which are open during the summer. For those seeking a bit of nightlife, Carmarthen (8 miles) is home to some 50 public houses and 4 night-clubs. Shops Llansteffan has a Spa shop and a Post Office a short walk from Innisfree. Three miles away is a mini-market at Llangain village, but for all serious shopping we recommend Carmarthen (8 miles), where all the large chain stores and local Welsh shops can be found. Activities - Outdoor The area offers plenty of opportunities to experience the ‘great outdoors’, and in addition to bathing and walking mentioned earlier, pony trekking is available at Llangain and sailing enthusiasts will be tempted by the facilities at Pilglas, mid-way between Llangain and Llansteffan, at the Towy Boat Club. A local cost guard station is located at Llansteffan beach.
Other pastimes include sea angling, providing attractive catches of bass, flatfish and mullet; tennis and bird watching - especially at ‘Werle Point’ and the area known as Laugharne Ferry. Activities - Indoor Just six miles from Llansteffan is the Carmarthen District Leisure Centre at Johnstown, Carmarthen, which provides supervised indoor swimming and where enthusiasts can enjoy various sports such as badminton and squash, in a relaxing atmosphere. A snooker hall is housed at the ‘Ben Harries Institute’ on the village square, Llansteffan and temporary memberships are welcomed. Summer Events Village cricket can be enjoyed on lazy Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings at the Morfa Ground near The Green front, with matches having been arranged during past years against a visitors 11. Other events which prove very popular are carnivals, fetes, country dancing, fun runs, barbecues, mock mayor election, village sport etc. which combine to provide an exceptionally full and varied seasonal calendar, details of which are published locally.
